After the completion of her first album, Immanentize, and the dissolution of her first band, Sydney Wickstrom joined the band Flightless Birds as the lead guitarist and lyricist. She left the band shortly after the release of their twin EPs 'The Claws that Bite' and 'The Jaws that Catch'. Fans of Sydney's first band say that the song 'Shed Skin' on the latter EP is about the fates of the former members, which Sydney learned in a series of prophetic nightmares.
